Stephen Pugh has been a prominent figure in San Francisco’s commercial real estate industry since 1990, consistently ranking among the region’s top leaders. Over the course of his career, he has facilitated the sale of more than $2.1 billion in multi-family and commercial properties across San Francisco and the greater Bay Area.

Career Highlights

• Founder & Leader of Five Firms (2008–Present): Since 2008, Stephen has established and led five commercial real estate firms in San Francisco, driving growth and innovation in the brokerage community.

• Alain Pinel Investment Group (2008–2013): As Managing Director, Stephen built one of the city’s leading multi-family practices, earning recognition as San Francisco’s #1 multi-family brokerage from 2009 to 2013.

• Paragon Commercial Brokerage (2013–2018): Serving as President and CEO, he managed a team of 30 professionals and sustained the firm’s reputation as the top multi-family brokerage from 2014 to 2017.

• Pacific Union Commercial / Compass Commercial (2018–2023): Returning to Pacific Union in 2018, Stephen later oversaw the merger of Pacific Union, Paragon, and Alain Pinel into Compass Commercial. As President, he led a team of 90+ agents across Northern and Southern California.

• Berkshire Hathaway / Drysdale Properties (2023-2025): Appointed Director of CRE Strategy, Stephen transitioned with his team, Pacific West Advisory Group, to expand Berkshire Hathaway’s commercial platform.

• Engel & Völkers Commercial (Current): Today, Stephen serves as Director of CRE Northern California for Engel & Völkers Commercial, continuing to lead his Pacific West Advisory Group in providing strategic growth, investment advisory, and brokerage services.

Industry Leadership

For more than 35 years, Stephen has been the President of the Income Property Marketing Group (IPMG), the Bay Area’s largest networking organization dedicated to promoting the sale of commercial and investment properties. His leadership has fostered collaboration among investors, brokers, and developers across the region.
